    Fall is officially here, bringing with it changing leaves, family-filled holidays, and (most importantly) Sunday football season. Whether you’re a die-hard football fanatic or just enjoy a good gathering, we can all agree that Sunday football isn’t the same without good food. Let’s dive into our ultimate football Sunday meal plan, featuring a menu filled with creative football appetizers, a personalized main course, and an innovative dessert that pairs perfectly with game-day touchdowns. 

    Creative Football Appetizers

    Let’s face it: appetizers are the bread and butter of any successful football Sunday watch party. Football Sunday meals are perfect for grazing on finger food during the commercial break, and we’ve got the perfect creative football appetizers to keep things festive. 

    7 Layer Dip: Football Field Edition

    A true crowd pleaser, 7 layer dip is the perfect low-maintenance appetizer to keep everyone happy. For your football Sunday meal, take this dish up a notch by decorating it to resemble a football field. Check out our simple recipe for the football dip of your dreams.

    IngredientsInstructions
    • 16 oz refried beans
    • 1 jar of salsa
    • 15 oz black olives, strained and chopped
    • 16 oz cheddar cheese, grated
    • 1 (15 oz) can of Rotel
    • 12 oz sour cream
    • 16 oz guacamole
    1. Create your layers
      • In the bottom of a rectangularbaking dish, spread your refried beans in an even layer.
      • In this order, spread even layers of salsa, black olives, cheddar cheese, Rotel, and 8 oz of your sour cream.
      • Finish with an even layer of guacamole over the top of your dip.
    2. Decorate your dip
      • Add your remaining 4 oz of sour cream to a piping bag with a medium tip.
      • Pipe your sour cream over the top of your dip to resemble a football field.
    3. Serve immediately with chips, pita bread, and/or carrots and celery

    Deviled Egg Footballs

    Deviled eggs are another classic finger food that are perfect for a football Sunday meal. This Sunday, take things up a notch by decorating your deviled eggs to resemble footballs. Read on to discover our simple hack to make deviled egg footballs.

    IngredientsInstructions
    • 12 large eggs
    • 5 tablespoons of mayonnaise
    • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
    • 2 teaspoons salt & pepper
    • 3-4 small dill pickles, diced
    • Paprika, for garnish
    • 4 oz sour cream
    1. Boil your eggs
      • Fill a large saucepan with cold water and bring it to a boil.
      • Reduce the heat slightly and use a spoon to carefully add your eggs to the boiling water.
      • Cook for 10-12 minutes, depending on your desired doneness.
      • Immediately drain and transfer your eggs to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process.
    2. Peel and slice your eggs
      • Carefully peel your boiled eggs, making sure to rinse off any excess pieces of shell.
      • Cut your eggs in half lengthwise.
      • Remove your yolks and place in a separate bowl.
    3. Make your filling
      • Mash your yolks.
      • Add your mayonnaise, mustard, salt, pepper, and pickles and mix with your mashed egg yolks.
      • Taste and adjust your seasoning according to preference.
    4. Fill your eggs
      • Use a piping bag with a large, round tip to pipe your filling back into your egg whites.
    5. Decorate your eggs
      • Sprinkle your deviled eggs with paprika, mimicking the dark color of a football.
      • Add your sour cream to a piping bag with a thin tip and pipe football laces over the top of your eggs.
    6. Serve immediately and enjoy

    Football Sunday Main Course: Mini Deep Dish Pizzas

    While not technically football themed, we figured that simple and easy was the best choice for a football Sunday meal. These mini deep dishes are quick, easy, and customizable. Make your filling ahead of time and pop them in the oven or even set up a do-it-yourself pizza bar where people can create their pizzas according to their preferences.

    IngredientsInstructions
    • 4 cups flour
    • 1 ½ teaspoons instant yeast
    • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
    • 1 ½ cups lukewarm water
    • 1 teaspoon olive oil
    • 16 oz fresh mozzarella cheese, diced
    • 8 oz freshly gratedparmesan cheese
    • 1 (8 oz) jar of pizza sauce
    • Your toppings of choice: pepperoni, sausage, prosciutto, peppers, basil, etc.
    1. Make your dough
      • Add flour, yeast, and salt to a medium-sized bowl.
      • Use a wooden spoon to combine your ingredients.
      • Add your lukewarm water all at once.
      • Use your wooden spoon to fold the ingredients together until the dough comes together and cleans the sides of the bowl.
      • Form your dough into a rough ball and transfer it to a large bowl.
      • Drizzle your dough ball with olive oil and use your hands to coat your dough.
      • Cover your bowl and leave your dough out to rise at room temperature for 2-3 hours.
    2. prepare your pizza filling
      • Preheat your oven to 400°F.
      • Fill 6 ramekins with cupcake liners or spray with nonstick cooking spray.
      • Line the bottom and sides of your ramekins with mozzarella and parmesan cheese.
      • Add your toppings of choice on top of your cheese.
      • Spoon pizza sauce over the top of your ingredients, making sure to only fill your ramekins up ¾ of the way.
    3. Add your dough
      • Cut your dough into 6 equal-sized pieces and shape into circles that are slightly larger than the top of your ramekins.
      • Place your dough over the top of each ramekin and pinch the edges to seal the sides.
    4. Bake your mini deep dish pizzas
    5. Flip your pizzas
      • Once your pizzas are cooked, flip them upside down onto a plate.
      • Tap the bottom of your ramekins and gently remove your dough away from the edges.
      • Use a kitchen towel or oven mitts to remove the hot ramekins and allow your cheese and fillings to slide into your pizza dough.
    6. Serve and enjoy

    Dessert: End Zone Cupcakes

    Bring home the gold with this show-stopping finisher. Score the last-minute touchdown with these end-zone cupcakes. Customize this recipe with colored icing to match your favorite team’s colors, or simply top them with green icing to resemble a football field end zone.

    • For your cupcakes
      • 1 cup (250g) all-purpose flour
      • ½ cup (125g) granulated sugar
      • (optional) ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
      • 1 teaspoon baking powder
      • ½ teaspoon baking soda
      • ¼ teaspoon salt
      • ½ cup (118ml) milk
      • 4 tablespoons (58ml) unsalted butter, melted and cooled
      • 1 large egg
      • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract or vanilla bean paste
    • For your frosting
    • For your goal post
    1. Preheat your oven
    2. Combine your dry ingredients
      • In a large bowl, add flour, sugar, cocoa powder (optional), baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
      • Whisk well until combined.
    3. Combine your wet ingredients
    4. Fold your wet ingredients into your dry ingredients
      • Gradually pour your wet ingredients into your dry ingredients.
      • Use a spoon or spatula to fold your ingredients together until they’re just combined, being careful not to over-mix.
    5. Bake your cupcakes
      • Fill your cupcake liners with your batter and bake for 20-25 minutes, until a toothpick can be inserted into your cupcakes and come out clean.
      • Let cook for a few minutes before removing from the pan and allowing to finish cooling on a wire rack.
    6. Make your frosting
      • In a large bowl, cream together your butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
      • Add your vanilla and milk, beating until smooth.
      • If needed, add more milk to adjust your texture.
      • (Optional) add your food coloring of choice to match your favorite team.
    7. Make your goalposts
      • Cut your wooden skewers into 4 equal-sized pieces.
      • Wrap each piece in fondant icing and use the icing to connect your skewers into the shape of a goalpost.
      • Repeat these steps as needed until you have your desired number of goal posts.
    8. Decorate your cupcakes
      • Pipe your icing onto your cooled cupcakes.
      • Insert your fondant goal posts into your cupcakes.
    9. Serve and enjoy
